The Napping Sphinx

The Frenchman’s wife, “Oh look you were doing
your Sphinx pose and fell asleep!”

Frère, “I am not a Sphinx! I’m a normal cat!”

The Frenchman’s wife, “Ok, you’re a
cat who looks like a Sphinx.”
Frère, “Your disturbing my nap!”

The After Dinner Show

*Note: After dinner we got up and began to clear the table. I left my chair pulled out and when I came back to push it in this is what I found:

The Frenchman’s wife, “Well hello Frère!”

The Frenchman’s wife, “Are you
enjoying watching my husband
clean the dishes?”

Outside Again Part 5

*Note: At last it came time for Caline’s outside trip to end:

Caline, “Look it’s a funny looking tree!”

The Frenchman, “No Caline, that’s a
vine you’re climbing on.”

Caline, “Oh I see, it goes up this tree.”

Caline, “Then it goes around here.”
The Frenchman’s wife, “Be careful to
not get tangled up!”

Caline, “I’m not tangled.”

Note: Shortly after this picture we had to untangle her from the vine. Then it was time to go back inside. Caline wanted to run so my husband took her and they ran through the woods together just like this:

The Frenchman, “Don’t fall behind!”
Caline, “You just wait, I’m going
to beat you home!”

Outside Again Part 4

*Note: After riding on my shoulder for a while Caline jumped down to explore.

Caline, “This place is very different!”

 Caline, “I’ve never seen anything
like it before!”

Caline, “Did you know the world
could look so different when
you're outside?”

Outside Again Part 3

*Note: When Caline got down from her pedestal she began to hop because she did not like the feel of the forest floor. Then she tangled herself in a small plant like this:

 The Frenchman’s wife, “We can’t
walk like this!”

*Note: So as she did not like to walk on the ground and was tangling herself up I picked her up and let her ride on my shoulder like this: (Caline often rides on my shoulder when I have too many things in my hands and need to take her to another room. Frère, however, doesn’t trust that he will not fall so I have to hold him tight when I carry him, but most of the time I just call for him.)

The Frenchman’s wife, “What do you
see from up there?”

Caline, “There are lots of trees…”

Caline, “…and there are
birds in them!”

Caline, “Hey, do you hear this one!
He’s mocking me!”

Outside Again Part 2

*Note: After we walked around the castle to the woods behind it Caline found something, here’s what she found:

Caline, “What’s this!?”
The Frenchman, “I think that it was a
pedestal for a statue
once long ago.”

Caline, “Do I make a good statue?”
The Frenchman’s wife, “You sure do.
And the castle is beautiful
behind you.”

The Frenchman, “Come on and we’ll
go deeper in the woods.”

Caline, “Ok, I’m coming!”

Caline, “Oh wait, what’s that!?”

Caline, “Hey come fly this way!”

Caline, “Don’t go over there!”

*Note: Caline became distracted because of a fly that whizzed by. She and Frère both love to watch flies and birds as they soar by!
Here is a picture of the castle from the woods behind it:

Outside Again Part 1

*Note: Because it had been a while since we last took Caline outside we decided to take her out for a nice long walk since it was much wormer out side today. Here’s what happened:

 Caline, “Open the door wider
I want to go out now!!!”

Caline, “Well what are you two
waiting for? Come on!”

Caline, “Look I found a tree!”
The Frenchman’s wife, “Yes, I know
you pulled me over to it!”

Caline, “Look I found another!”

Caline, “Oh and this one is good…”

Caline, “…for climbing!”

Caline, “Hey what’s that?”

Caline, “Did you see where it went to?”
The Frenchman, “No.”
The Frenchman’s wife, “Caline, come
with us well take you to the woods
behind the castle!”

Who’s Top Cat

The Frenchman, “Caline, you’re in a
very bright and sunny place!”

*Note: Just after having taken this picture someone else noticed the same thing and that someone wanted Caline’s spot!

Frère, “Move!”

Caline, “No you go away!”

Frère, “I said move!”

Caline, “No go away!”

Frère, “If you don’t move!”

Caline, “Gurr!!!”
Frère, “Gurr!!!”

Caline, “Ok, I’m going!”

Note: Caline and Frère have play fights every now and then but sometimes they fight because Frère considers himself to be dominant over Caline.  And as he is bigger than she is it is easy for him to have his way. But after this we moved the tower to a spot in the room where it could be in the sun and gave it to Caline. She was happy to be on the tower and in the sun!

The French Sphinx

The Frenchman to his wife, “Did you know
that we owned a Sphinx?”
The Frenchman’s wife, “Do you think it
knows any good riddles?”

Frère, “You two are bothering my nap!”

Frère, “And how can I be a Sphinx if I do
not have the head of a woman?”
The Frenchman’s wife, “That’s not a
very good riddle. Ask another.”

*Note: The riddle of the Sphinx is “What goes on four legs in the morning, on two legs at noon, and on three legs in the evening?”, know the answer?
Frère enjoys to lay and take naps with his arms stretched out in fount of himself just like this and every time he does this he reminds us of a Sphinx.

*Note: Because we were not expecting to get Frère we did not have a name picked out for him right away like we did for Caline. We debated on many names and I suggested Jacques because of this song (all Frère did at first was eat and sleep the day away). But my husband didn’t like the name Jacques so we went with Frère!
